Men's Tennis' Garbero and Prat Win CUSA Doubles Team of the Week
3/18/2026 1:30:00 PM | Men's Tennis
DALLAS - University of Delaware men's tennis' Federico Garbero and Pere Prat earned CUSA men's doubles team of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Garbero and Prat, a young duo unfamiliar with pairing up together in both of their first years competing with the Fightin' Blue Hens, took to the courts twice this past weekend in doubles action.Â
This is the first weekly award that either student-athlete has won in their careers and the second-consecutive week that a Blue Hen duo has taken this award. Three different sets of doubles have now won this conference laurel for UD. Euan Mackenzie and Tobey Lock won for the week of February 4, while Mason Robins and James Sclater earned the nod for the week of March 11.
They handedly won both third doubles matches that they competed in. The duo came up clutch against Monmouth, clinching the doubles point 6-3 after the Hawks tied it up in order to secure the doubles point, crucial to the 4-0 clinch for the Hens on senior day. Against Saint Joseph's, they won 6-0 in third doubles, the first shutout for either student-athlete in their doubles career.
Both first year Fightin' Blue Hens have gotten out to a fantastic start in Newark on the year.
Â
Individually, Garbero is 14-6 in doubles play, including a 10-1 mark in the fall.Â
Â
Prat is 11-4 in his freshman campaign, including a 5-2 mark in doubles action during dual play. In his team-high six matches in third doubles, he is 4-2.
Â
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will continue their five-match road stretch, competing at Richmond on March 20 at 1 p.m.
