Football Adds Oklahoma State Transfer WR Da’Wain Lofton

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football program has added Oklahoma State transfer WR Da'Wain Lofton (pronounced DAY-wahn) to the roster, head coach Ryan Carty announced Wednesday. Lofton will join the Fightin' Blue Hens for spring practice and have one playing season remaining.
The 5-11, 190-pound wide receiver comes to Newark after spending two seasons at Oklahoma State and three seasons at Virginia Tech. Over his collegiate career, he's appeared in 41 games with 12 starts, including all 11 games in 2022 for the Hokies. Lofton has accounted for 42 receptions for 560 yards and three touchdowns. He was named to the 2022 and 2023 All-ACC Academic Team and a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
A Fort Worth, Texas native, Lofton graduated from North Side High School in 2021. Over his career, he set school records with 5,135 all-purpose yards and 62 total touchdowns (26 receiving, 21 rushing, 11 return, and four passing). Lofton garnered numerous accolades that included 2018 District 4-5A Special Teams Player of the Year, ranked No. 81 on Dallas-Ft. Worth's 2019 Top 100 Players, 2019 District 4-5A Most Valuable Player of the Year, 2019 DFW first team all-area wide receiver, 2019 AP first team all-state wide receiver, 2020 District 4-5A Offensive Player of the Year, No. 11 on DFW's 2020 Top 100 Players. He was rated a three-star prospect out of high school according to 247sports.com.
Off the gridiron, he also played basketball for the Steers and was clocked with a 11.48-second time in the 100-meter dash on the track squad, the second-fastest mark in school history.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he is the son of Tyna Lofton and Kenyone Johnson. His lone sibling, Ti'yanna Johnson, currently plays women's flag football at Texas Wesleyan. Lofton has a bachelor's degree in smart and sustainable cities from Virginia Tech, as well as a graduate certificate in digital design from Oklahoma State. At UD, Lofton intends to obtain his master's in international business.
