NEWARK, Del. – The itinerary has been set for the University of Delaware's fourth-annual 302 Tour, the university announced Tuesday. The three-day event will take place from Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. The annual tour spans all three counties within the state, allowing university student-athletes, staff, and coaches to engage with community members and fans, while learning about different things that make Delaware special.
"The 302 Tour is one of the best events each year," Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation Jordan Skolnick said. "Being able to engage with the community and learn about the state we represent is such an important part of our mission. We are so grateful to the alumni, business leaders, and community members who join us to meet our student-athletes and coaches throughout the Sussex, Kent and New Castle counties."
The first day of the tour begins in New Castle County with a community service event at the Community Education Building in Wilmington, which is sponsored by Saul Ewing. After that, the team will get lunch from Surf Bagel en route to Fort Delaware in Delaware City. The day wraps up with a field day event presented by Bank of America from 6-8 p.m. on the University of Delaware campus where the community can join in on fun at the outdoor pool and field games. Food will be served and those looking to attend are asked to RSVP with the form on bluehens.com.
Day two of the tour will see the cohort head to Kent County, starting with a visit to sponsor Bayhealth at the Bayhealth Hospital in Dover. The public can join the Fightin' Blue Hens for lunch at sponsor Buffalo WIld Wings in Dover on South Bay Road from 12:30-1:30 p.m. After lunch, another event open to the public is on the docket with UD heading to Killen's Pond in Felton from 2:30-4:30 p.m. for outdoor activities, including kayak and paddle boat rentals and guided nature walks. The event is made possible by sponsor Visit Delaware. After some travel and rest, the group will head to the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach for games and rides at Funland from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Fans and community members are encouraged to join in on the action.
The tour concludes with a day spent in Sussex County, starting with the annual Chicken Chase 5k presented by The Starboard in Dewey Beach from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Registration is under way and those interested can sign up through the Race Roster website. The Hens will follow that with a beach clean up and some fun in the sun before heading for a dolphin boat tour. To wrap up the tour, fans can join the cohort for the 302 Tour Reception in the evening of June 13, with further details to be announced at a later date.
During the tour, fans can follow along with the fun at bluehens.com/302Tour and on social media.
