Women’s Basketball Signs Loyola Chicago Transfer Daniella Matus

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball program has signed Loyola Chicago transfer Daniella Matus, head coach Sarah Jenkins announced Friday.
The 5-9 guard comes to Newark after spending one season at Loyola Chicago. In her lone season with the Ramblers, she appeared in 19 games, accounting for 21 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in 99 minutes of action.
A Fairfield, N.J. native, Matus graduated from Morris Catholic High School in 2025. She was a four-year starter in high school, playing one season at St. John Vianney in 2023-24 between stints at Morris Catholic. Matus helped lead St. John Vianney to its fourth-straight Shore Conference Tournament title in 2023-24. A two-time team captain, Matus surpassed the 1,000-career point mark in her prep career, averaging 12.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in her senior campaign for the Crusaders, leading to the honor of being named a 2025 McDonald's All-American nominee.
Throughout her high school career, Matus earned numerous accolades, including Morris County Tournament MVP, John Wall National Christmas Tournament - All-Tournament Team, NJAC First Team, All-Morris County First Team, and All-Shore Conference Third Team.
Born in the Garden State, Daniella is the daughter of Deneen and Michael Matus and has two sisters, Marissa and Nina. Her father, Michael, played basketball at DII Bentley University.
