Rowing Records Second-Place Finish at MAC Championships; Four Named to All-MAC Teams

YPSILANTI, Mich. – University of Delaware rowing placed second in the inaugural 2026 MAC Women's Rowing Championship, earning its highest-overall postseason finish since 2010-11, when it placed second at the ECAC Championships. The squad earned podium finishes in all four races it competed in on Saturday.
The second-place finish is the program's highest placement at a sponsored conference championship in program history, and the Fightin' Blue Hens' 39 points accumulated are its most in a conference championship in program history.
As a result of the second-place finish, Delaware earned four total All-MAC spots, tying a program-high that went to Meaghan Leahy, Amari Randall, and Ava Tine being named First Team All-MAC, while Kathleen Higgins was named Second Team All-MAC as the selected coxswain of the second-place team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The team finished second in the Second Varsity 8+ and both the Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+ races and third in the Varsity 8+.

V8+
- The Varsity Eight jumped off the line taking the lead over UMass for the first 500m. The MinuteWomen and Temple overtook the Blue & Gold heading into the second half of the race, holding an open water lead over the rest of the boats, as Delaware held a nine-second advantage over High Point for a third-place finish, earning 18 points towards the team standings with a time of 6:45.4.
- UD got out to its second-consecutive early lead in the Second Varsity 8+ and was able to keep steady alongside UMass for a majority of the race. The MinuteWomen pulled away in the last 500-meters, with the Hens finishing in second at 6:52.9.
- UMass got off the line with an open water lead through the first 1000m of the Varsity Four. Delaware battled for second place for most of the race, but the Blue Hens increased the distance between themselves and the High Point in the final sector, with UD earning second-place for the second race in a row, at 7:32.4.
SECOND VARSITY 4+
- In the Second Varsity Four, UMass, UD, and Temple all held close for the first 500m, with the MinuteWomen taking a slight lead. The Blue Hens and Owls traded places for the next 1,250-meters, with Delaware leading by a deck once reaching the red buoys. The Blue & Gold held on for its third-straight second-place finish.
