NEWARK, Del. – A crucial piece of the Delaware women's basketball staff over the past four years, D'Nay Daniels, has been promoted to assistant coach/director of women's basketball operations, head coach Sarah Jenkins announced Wednesday.
"D'Nay has consistently displayed the qualities of hard work, dedication, and loyalty," Jenkins said. "She works tirelessly every day to make our program better and has proven herself to be an invaluable asset to the team. Her contributions have made a meaningful impact on the program, and I am excited to see her continue to grow and develop in her career."
Daniels came to Newark in 2022 as the director of women's basketball operations, reuniting with Jenkins for the first time since the duo coached the varsity girl's basketball team at The Geneva School (Fla.). Over her tenure with the Fightin' Blue Hens, Daniels has contributed to four-straight conference tournament appearances and the development of six all-conference players.
"I am incredibly grateful to Coach Jenkins for believing in me and trusting me with this expanded role," Daniels said. "Being a part of this program has given me a deep appreciation for the people, culture and standards that make this place special. I am excited to take on a larger role in the development of our student-athletes and continue helping our program compete for championships. I look forward to contributing in new ways as an assistant coach."
A two-time Conference USA women's basketball champion as a student-athlete at UCF, Daniels helped the Blue & Gold to a conference tournament appearance in its first season as a member of the league. The Blue Hens picked up a win over Kennesaw State, advancing to the quarterfinal round.
