NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware will serve as host to the Smyrna vs. Salesianum football game on Friday, October 9 at 7 p.m., the teams announced Monday. Tickets, benefiting the two schools, will start at $12 plus fees, with a presale running from now through Sunday, September 27. Beginning September 28, ticket prices will increase to $14 plus fees. Student tickets will be available through each school starting Tuesday, September 8 at $8 plus fees. Tickets can be purchased at bluehens.com
"Last year's game provided an awesome opportunity for a great high school football game," Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation Jordan Skolnick said. "Being a good partner to the 302 community is important to us, and this game is just one example of the great things we can do when we work together. We hope this is another enjoyable experience for the student-athletes, coaches, and fans."
Fans will be able to enjoy the game similarly to the way they would a Blue Hens game with parking and concessions available on site.
"The opportunity to play in the biggest football stadium in the state against a good program is exciting for our athletes and coaches," Smyrna High School Athletic Director Bill Schultz said. "It is also such a great chance for our community to come out and show their support for our program. With the atmosphere that this event created last year, our athletes, coaches, fans and our cheerleaders and band cannot wait to get back up there for another game."
"We are excited to give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the University of Delaware and an experience they will remember," Salesianum School Athletic Director, Assistant Principal Katie Orga Godfrey said. "Sharing the stage with Smyrna makes this a special night for both programs and their families, especially playing under the lights on a Friday night."
