Football’s Demboski Named to 2026 Rimington Trophy Preseason Watchlist

NEW YORK – University of Delaware football OL Steven Demboski has been named to the 2026 Rimington Trophy Preseason Watchlist, the Boomer Esiason Foundation announced Thursday. Demboski is the first in program history to make the Rimington Watchlist and one of two centers from Conference USA to be placed on the prestigious list (Liberty C Aaron Fenimore).
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus First Team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
This continues a busy preseason of awards for the fifth-year center, also being named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watchlist, an Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee, Athlon Sports 2025 Preseason Conference USA All-Conference First Team, Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason CUSA First Team, and Conference USA's Preseason Watchlist.
Demboski, a 2025 Second Team All-CUSA selection, played and started in 11 games at center last season. According to PFF, he did not allow a sack all season in his first year as the full-time starter. He was named the CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week after UConn after making his season debut in the 44-41 OT win after missing the first two games due to injury. Under his leadership, the Delaware rushing attack had its best game on the ground, accounting for five rushing touchdowns and 247 rushing yards for an average of 5.5 yards per attempt in the team's first-FBS home win.
