Cupitt Lands on Ray Guy Award’s Ray’s 8 List

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Delaware P Josh Cupitt has been named to the Ray Guy Award's Ray's 8 for week three after his performance against Coastal Carolina, the Ray Guy Award committee announced Monday. Cupitt is the first player in program history to earn this honor.
After missing all of last season with an injury to his punting leg, Cupitt had a career day in Delaware's 22-14 win over Coastal Carolina. The sixth-year punter landed four of his six punts inside the 20, three inside the 10, and two inside the five. He averaged 41.5 yards per kick, including a long of 52. The four punts inside the 20 doubled Cupitt's career mark.
The Ray Guy Award - named for football's premier punter - honors the nation's best collegiate punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy.
Ray's 8 is a top eight list of punters from the prior week's games. Ray Guy Award nominees are eligible for Ray's 8. Punters named to Ray's 8 are eligible to be selected as the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week. Ray's 8 and Punter of the Week are determined by the Ray Guy Award Committee.
Cupitt and the Fightin' Blue Hens return to action on Saturday for a 6 p.m. kickoff on the ACC Network against Virginia.
