Six Record First-Collegiate Wins as Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Towson 193-107

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women's swimming & diving defeated former CAA foe Towson on Saturday by a score of 193-107. With the victory, the Fightin' Blue Hens move to 1-0 and now carry a dual meet win streak of four meets.
This is the team's fourth-straight win over Towson, and its most points scored in a meet over the Tigers in program history. The win is the third-consecutive year that the women's team has won its first dual meet.
Six Blue Hens won their first-collegiate events in the victory.
RESULTS
Delaware won nine events on the day, including both diving portions during head diving coach Adam Vance's Blue Hen debut.
In the 1-meter dive, Gabriella Elk scored a 261.15, finishing in first place. In the 3-meter dive, Keira Allison took first place at 251.55, with Elk closely behind at 244.65 taking second.
Opening the swimming portion of the meet, the Hens took both first and second place in the 200-medley relay. Sophie Fredericks, Kelsey McPeek, Carolyne Jia, and Olivia Willemsen placed first at 1:40.65. Aleksandra Dimitrova, Piper Price, Olivia Auwarter, and Mabel Zegowitz finished in second at 1:42.45.
In the 1000-free, Elisa Spera finished in first at 10:07.46, with Zoe Weker coming in second at 10:25.73.
Fredericks set a personal best in the 100-back, finishing at 54.30, earning UD nine points. Dimitrova finished in second at 54.77.
Delaware had a trifecta in the 100-breast, with Kelsey McPeek taking first at 1:04.26, Cailin Maley in second at 1:04.29, and Piper Price finishing third at 1:05.32.
Auwarter won the 200-fly, recording her first of two wins and personal bests on the day at 1:59.82, with Erin Richards following behind in second at 2:03.97.
In the 100-free, Willemsen took second at 50.46 with Zegowitz placing third at 50.60.
Another Delaware trio swept the 200-back, with Dimitrova taking first at 2:00.18, Torun McGillis finishing in second at 2:02.83, and Erin Richards rounding out the Hens at 2:03.05.
Maley earned her second of two second place finishes of the day in the 200-breast at 2:18.49. Price followed closely behind at 2:18.94.
Delaware finished off the solo portion of the meet with all Blue Hens in the top three of both the 100-fly and 200-IM. In the 100-fly, all freshmen finished in the top three, with Auwarter taking the win at 55.01, a personal best. Fredericks finished in second place at 55.09 while Wolbert placed third at 56.36.
In the 200-IM, Maley recorded her first-collegiate win at 2:05.83, with McGillis in second at 2:06.32 and Price taking third at 2:06.60.

The Blue Hens' next meet is a tri-meet at West Virginia against the Mountaineers and another Big 12 opponent, the Cincinnati Bearcats on October 23-24 in Morgantown, W.Va.
