Mutli-Goal Game From Saldarini Lifts Women's Soccer to Win Over Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Thanks to a multi-goal game from Cassandra Saldarini, the University of Delaware women's soccer program earned its first road win of the season against Bucknell, by a score of 2-0, on Thursday. Â
With the result, UD's overall record is 3-0-3.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Blue Hens offense had 10 shots on the day, five of which were on goal. Saldarini was the lone Blue Hen with multiple shots.
- Sophia Hall started in net and collected two saves. It is her third-straight goalkeeper shutout.Â
- Defenders Maura Fisher and Calista Collins, along with Hall, played in all 90 minutes of the game.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saldarini broke the 0-0 tie in the 75th minute with her first collegiate goal. She received an excellent cross from Ava Sallee; the ball hit her foot, bounced off the ground, and went over the goalkeeper's head. Both Sallee and Sophia Zeppos earned assists on the goal.
- Moments later, in the 77th minute, Saldarini iced the game with her second goal of the night. After a shot from Brooke Vogel was saved, a Bisons defender attempted to clear the ball, but it was poked away by a Blue Hens player. The ball rolled straight to Saldarini, who then tapped it into the left corner of the net.Â
GAME NOTES
- Saldarini becomes the second Blue Hen this season to score multiple goals in a game, along with Maggie Groh against VCU.Â
- Delaware has recorded three-straight shutouts for the first time since 2024. It is the second time under fourth year head coach Kelly Lawrence that UD shutout its opponents in three-straight matches.
- The UD defense has not allowed a goal in 300 straight minutes, dating back to the second half of its game against Navy on August 23.Â

UD returns to Grant Stadium and welcomes Georgetown on Thursday, September 10 at 6 p.m.
