Women’s Golf Places 10th at Nittany Lion Invitational; Malosh Sixth at Happy Valley Individual

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University of Delaware women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season with a 10th-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Fightin' Blue Hens carded a 54-hole score of 13-over par to finish in the middle of the 18-team field. The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,363-yard Penn State Blue Course.
Additionally, a pair of Blue Hens competed in the individual tournament, Happy Valley Individual. Playing just 36 holes over the two days, Marissa Malosh tied for sixth in the 43-woman field at even par, while Kate Roberts tied for 24th.

The Blue Hens will travel to the Midwest this weekend to compete in the Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played September 13-15 at University Ridge Golf Course. Delaware has finished in the top-three in each of its past three trips to The Badger State, including a team title in 2024 and a runner-up finish in 2025.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware finished with 30 birdies as a team over the 54 holes of the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Blue Hens turned in a 1-under par as a squad during Monday's second round.
- Gooneratne carded consecutive rounds under par in the second and third rounds, firing a 2-under par on Monday and 1-under par on Tuesday. She finished with nine total birdies, including four in each of the final two rounds.
- Sawant had six total birdies. She turned in a bogey-free 1-under par 71 in Monday's second round.
- Kayley Roberts had five birdies in her collegiate debut. She carded an even-par 72 in the second round.
- Kim and Dunigan combined for 10 total birdies.
- In the Happy Valley Individual, Malosh recorded eight birdies over her 36 holes, including five during Tuesday's second round when she carded a 1-under par 71 to move into a tie for sixth. It is her sixth-career top-10 finish.
