Join us on Saturday, February 14th as the University of Delaware celebrates National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), presented by ChristianaCare. NGWSD started in 1987 as a single event in Washington, D.C. to honor Olympic volleyball star Flo Hyman, and has since grown into a nationwide celebration across all 50 states. The day will always be attributed back to the work Hyman did as an athlete and for her work to assure equality for women's sports. NGWSD has become a day to acknowledge the past accomplishments of female athletes and recognizing current sports achievements of women in sports.
Â
The University of Delaware’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic is free and open to all Blue Hens girls ages 5–12. Participants will learn sports skills directly from UD student-athletes and then have the opportunity to cheer on our teams later in the day. Complimentary tickets are provided only for registered clinic participants. Parents and family members wishing to attend the games will need to purchase a separate ticket. As part of the full NGWSD experience, we ask that all clinic participants join us at a Blue Hens game to support our student-athletes!
