Does UDCT have tryouts?

How can I sign up for a clinic?

Is there a waitlist for a clinic that is full/sold out?
- Yes, please email cheer@udel.edu with your name, position, grad year, and school if you would like to be placed on the waitlist for a clinic.
What skills should I put in my official recruit video?

Can I fill out the questionnaire before I make my recruit video?
- Yes! Fill out the questionnaire as soon as you can to be added to our email mailing list. You can send in the video at a later time.
How do I submit a skills video if I’ve already filled out the questionnaire?
- Any videos you would like us to view must be uploaded to YouTube and then you can email it to us as a YouTube link. We cannot view videos otherwise. Our official recruit video guidelines are linked below. https://bluehens.com/documents/2024/9/24/UDCT_PSA_Recruiting_Video_Guidelines.pdf
Do I need tumbling to be considered for the team?
- For tumbling you must have at least a solid standing tuck and a solid running roundoff back handspring tuck on dead mat in order to be considered for the team
Do you have clinics for youth children?
- Yes! We have one during football season before a game and one during basketball season during a game. We will also be having a 3 day youth clinic in summer 2025.
Is there a deadline to submit my official recruit video?
- It is suggested that seniors submit their official recruitment video by October of their senior year. You can still send in more skills videos as the year progresses. If you do not submit anything by October we suggest submitting a video ASAP.
Do I need a NCAA profile?
- While we are a “varsity sport” under the athletics department here at UD, we are not an NCAA sport. Thus an NCAA profile is not required to be recruited for the UD cheer team.
Do you offer Scholarships?
- We offer two types of scholarships
- Seniority-Based Scholarship is determined by your year on the team. Amounts are subject to change but typically, student-athletes will receive $1000 for every year on the team. (i.e. first years receive $1000 for the season and second years receive $2000 for the season, etc) (everyone receives this scholarship)
- Performance-Based Scholarship ranges from a couple hundred dollars to $1000, and it is determined by each student-athlete's attitude, effort, and athletic ability throughout the season. (not received by everyone)
What resources do SA receive?
- Resources include but aren't limited to: Free Adidas team gear, ZERO team fees/dues, travel opportunities, strength & conditioning coach, athletic trainer, leadership development program, access to athletic facilities, and much much more
General Yearly Schedule
- Summer Schedule:
- UDCT Welcome Event: Weekend in early May
- June Practice Week: One week in late June
- Pre-Camp & Camp: Week and a half in early August
- Pre-Season: Week and a half in late August
- Fall Schedule:
- Games: Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball
- Practice: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (2-3 hours each)
- Lifts: Tuesday and Thursday (1 hour each)
- December Break & Winter Session Schedule:
- Games: Football Playoffs, Men’s & Women’s Basketball
- 2-a-day practices starting immediately after finals week (1-2 hours each)
- Generally 5 days off for holidays
- 2-a-days continue after holiday break and continue until we leave for Nationals (1-2 hours each)
- Generally we leave for Nationals the Thursday before MLK weekend
- Generally we return the Monday following Nationals
- Spring Schedule:
- Games: Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournaments
- Practice: Tuesday and Thursday (2 hours each)
- Lifts: Tuesday and Thursday (1 hour each)
- *Graduating seniors are exempt from team lifts. But if one chooses to attend, they must attend all the lifts for the semester.
- Banquet: Mid-April/Early May (banquet marks official end of the season)
- Post Banquet
- Open lift hours through end of semester (optional)
- Open gym hours through end of semester (optional)
