Named Delaware's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 1982-83, Brooking was a member of the United States Under 21 National Field Hockey Team in 1980 and on the 1981 United States Field Hockey first team, the American Cup Team and U.S. Touring team.
Anne participated in the National Sports Festival in 1981 and 1985. In 1983, she was on the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey Training Squad and won the Southland Corporation "Olympia" award. She also traveled to Taiwan in 1988 as a player/coach of the U.S. Exhibition Field Hockey team
Brooking twice co-captained the University of Delaware lacrosse teams to national championships, both under Hall of Fame head coach Janet Smith. She led teams to a 13-2 mark in 1981 and 14-1 in 1982 when the squads captured Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) and to a record of 18-2 in 1983 when the Blue Hens won the first NCAA Division I National Women's Lacrosse title.
She earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) first team All-American honors in both 1982 and 1983. She also was a member of the 1982 U.S. Women's World Championship lacrosse team.
In field hockey, she starred for two seasons under Hall of Fame head coach Mary Ann Hitchens and led the 1980 team to a mark of 12-6-2 and a national runner-up finish. The 1981 team went 11-4-3. She earned Mitchell & Ness All-American honors both seasons.
She also served as head coach of varsity hockey, lacrosse and eighth grade basketball at Wilmington (Del.) Friends School. and inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum & Hall of Fame in 1995.
