First-year member of the squad as freshman tight end • will add depth to the position and serve as a key practice player • can also play quarterback.
HIGH SCHOOL
Standout in football and track & field at Prospect High School • three-year captain and starter at quarterback in football for head coach Mike Sebestyen • earned all-conference honors as a senior and was a three-time Northwest Illinois All-Area honorable mention selection • three-year standout and two-year captain in track & field for coaches Tim Beisher and Frank Mirandola • threw the discus • also played basketball for his church, St. Mark's • member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and received several regional awards • received national publicity for an Anti-bullying Campaign, dubbed "Dude. Be Nice" that he helped spearhead at school.

Matthew Driscoll "Matt" Drew • born Nov.13, 1997 in Jacksonville, Fla. • elementary teacher education major with a concentration in special education at Delaware • loves all sports, especially basketball, baseball, tennis, surfing, swimming, frisbee, and lacrosse • fan of the Chicago Cubs (MLB) and Bears (NFL) • son of Tim and Ann Drew • has a younger sister • father works with the government and is a gradute of Illinois • mother is a nurse and earned degrees from Widener (Pa.) and San Diego State after beginning college career at Delaware • mother (former Ann Werkheiser) played volleyball at Delaware as a freshman in 1985 and went on to star in volleyball and track & field (discus, shot put) at nearby Widener University • uncle, Tony Simmons, was a standout football player at Widener and is a member of the Delaware County (Pa.) Athletic Hall of Fame • uncle, John Werkheiser, played high school football at nearby Archmere Academy and college football at Widener where he was a member of the Pioneers' 1981 NCAA III national championship team.
