AS A BLUE HEN
Four-year letter winner with the Blue Hens • led Delaware to an overall record of 103-31 while going 56-14 in the CAA with two league titles during her tenure • top 20 in Delaware history in four categories – field goal percentage (tied ninth; .473), games played (tied 11th; 115), free throw percentage (14th; .775) and blocks (18th; 47) • also ranked in the record books in rebounding (30th; 447) and scoring (36th; 738 career points).
2013-14 SEASON
Team captain • posted breakout year as a senior • CAA All-First Team and All-Tournament team selection that led the Blue Hens to their fourth straight CAA Championship appearance • UD Alumni Association Team MVP • Blue Hen Basketball Club Outstanding Achievement Award • four-time CAA Player of the Week • Allstate WBCA Good Works Team® nominee • National 5 & 10 Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week (Nov. 18; Dec. 23) • finished third in the conference with an average of 17.1 points, fourth with 8.5 rebounds and sixth with 1.0 blocks per contest • shot 46.5 percent from the field and 80.1 percent from the free throw line • set UD program CAA Tournament record with career-best 19 rebounds against the College of Charleston in the semifinals • registered a career-high 33 points in win over the Cougars on Feb. 14 • named the Lehigh Christmas City Classic MVP after averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists against Lehigh and Youngstown State.
2012-13 SEASON
Competed in all but one game, while starting two for Delaware as a junior • averaged 2.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per contest • put up a career-high 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field in a career-high 31 minutes in the team’s NCAA First Round Tournament win over West Virginia (3/24) • contributed 4.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and a 50.0 percent shooting mark in team’s three NCAA Tournament contests • tied a career-high with two blocks in regular season finale against Georgia State (3/6) • dished out a season-high two assists against Old Dominion (2/14) • attempted first career 3-pointer against UNCW (1/24) • collected three free throws, seven rebounds, two blocks, one assists and one steal against Princeton (12/9) • posted eight points, seven rebounds and one blocked shot against St. Bonaventure (11/28) • blocked first shot of the season at Duquesne (11/14) • scored six points and grabbed two rebounds during UD’s season-opening victory over Sam Houston State (11/9).

Saw action in 23 games, including two starts against Georgia State (1/23) and George Mason (1/27) • averaged 2.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game • played her finest game against Alcorn State (12/30), tallying a career-high nine points, going 4 of 10 from the field and pulling down seven rebounds while playing in 21 minutes • recorded a career-high eight rebounds against Princeton (12/1) • scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds versus Vanderbilt (12/29) • went 3 for 3 from the field to finish with six points against George Mason (1/27) • had four points and three rebounds during a win at Georgia State.

Kelsey Leigh Buchanan • daughter of Ralph Buchanan and Lenora Johnson • has one younger brother • pregame ritual includes listening to the same playlist and wearing lucky socks • mother played basketball at Lafayette • began playing basketball in sixth grade • chose Delaware because she loved the campus • graduated from Delaware in May 2014 as an honors student and human services major • holds aspirations to become a guidance counselor • worked as a Blue Hen Ambassador • visited South Africa for three weeks during the summer of 2012.
