Jourdan Townsend

Senior Offensive Analyst/Assistant Wide Receivers

Jourdan Townsend was hired as senior offensive analyst and assistant wide receivers coach in February 2026.

Townsend originally joined the football coaching staff in July 2024 as an offensive analyst. He assisted with the team's wide receivers and special teams.

In between coaching stints in Newark, he spent the 2025 campaign as the wide receivers coach at former Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foe, UAlbany.

Townsend had a stellar playing career for the Fightin’ Blue Hens in which he finished ranked 11th in program history in career receptions (140) and 14th in career receiving yards (1,662). The four-time All-CAA selection led the offense in both receptions and receiving yards in both 2022 and 2023.

In 2024, Townsend led a deep UD receiving corps with 49 catches for 661 yards, including 10 catches for 97 yards in two FCS playoff games. On special teams, Townsend averaged 13.9 yards on punt returns and had his first career return for a touchdown on an 82-yard score at Hampton.

In May 2024, he received an invitation to attend rookie minicamp with the Cleveland Browns.

A native of Farrell, Pennsylvania, Towsend graduated from Farrell High School.
