Kia Anderson serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director, External Relations and Strategic Initiatives. Anderson oversees the Sales and Service and Annual Giving teams, and manages revenue generation, executive communications and special projects for the external relations team. She is also responsible for alumni engagement efforts, donor recognition and stewardship, athletic department special events and statewide engagement initiatives. Anderson is also the sport administrator for the Delaware Women's Soccer program.
Anderson previously served as Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing and Engagement, where she was responsible for marketing, promotions, and game presentation for the men's basketball and men's lacrosse programs, and was the secondary contact for football, while also leading community events and alumni engagement efforts. Anderson first joined the Blue Hen family as a sales coordinator in 2015. She moved to the Marketing and Engagement team in as Assistant Director of Engagement in May of 2017, and was promoted to Director of Engagement in December of 2018, and Assistant AD for Marketing and Engagement in May 2021.
A native of Princeton, New Jersey, Anderson worked from 2012-15 at Northwestern University as an account executive for group sales. While at Northwestern, she was responsible for prospecting and selling tickets for groups for Northwestern football and men's basketball games, organizing hospitality, and providing marketing and promotions support.
Prior to becoming an account executive at Northwestern, she served two years on the Wildcat staff as a marketing intern in game day operations, assisting the marketing department during football, soccer, basketball, softball, and lacrosse events. Previous to joining Northwestern full time, she also worked as a senior technical recruiter for national IT staffing leader Randstad Technologies in Chicago for four years.
She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in psychology with a sport management minor from Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 2008 and earned her master's degree in sport administration from Northwestern in 2012.
While at Denison, she was a four-year member of the nationally-ranked soccer team, earned all-conference honors four times, and served as team captain as a senior.
