Lindsay Hayman

Lindsey Hayman (nee Prettyman), a Blue Hen cross country/track & field standout alum and 2022 Delaware Athletics Hall of Famer, returns home to Delaware and joins the track & field program serving as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season. Hayman will assist in the oversight of the middle and long-distance event groups.
The consummate student-athlete, Hayman made her mark at Delaware as a record-setting cross country runner and track & field distance ace as well as an award-winning scholar. She earned 12 letters in three sports as a Blue Hen, was team Most Valuable Player in each, was honored as the 2014 UD Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year, and was selected as the Mary Ann Hitchens Award winner.
A native of Newark and a 2014 UD honors graduate, Hayman was named the 2014 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA, formerly Colonial) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and later earned CSC Academic All-American (formerly CoSIDA) honors. A four-year standout in cross country, she captured 21 meet titles and became the first UD runner since 1984 to compete at the NCAA Championships in 2013.
Hayman established 10 school records in track & field, setting indoor marks in the 800m, 1,000m, 3,000m, and 4x800m relay, and outdoor standards in the 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m,, 4x800m relay, and distance medley relay. She led Delaware to the 2014 CAA outdoor track & field team title when she won two events and earned the Meet Outstanding Performer award.
