Gray Bangs Out 12 hits to Sweep Blue, 8-1, in Delaware Baseball?s Best of Three Blue/Gray World Series

Long (above right) struck out in the first, but put on a show for his during his final three at-bats. With two outs and the bases empty in the third, Long hit a double to left center to start a two run inning.
With a runner on in the fifth, the second baseman homered to left field to make it 6-1. Now in the seventh, Long finished his day with a triple to right center, later scoring on a sacrifice fly. Long ended 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI's.
Alex Maruri followed Long's homerun with a blast of his own, greeting Kenny Fetchko after a pitching change.
Sophomore Alex Mottle and freshman Zach Lopes also added three hits each to help lead the Gray team.
Eric Young pitched six innings for the Gray squad, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out three while picking up the win. He also helped himself out at the plate, hitting a solo homerun to right in the fourth.
Jimmy Yezzo completed a solid World Series of his own, going 3-for-3 with a double in the loss. In the three games, Yezzo finished 7-for-9 with five RBI's and two runs scored.
Chad Kuhl threw four innings, giving up six runs (four earned) in the loss. He struck out three batters while giving up eight hits.
Wednesday concluded the fall for the Blue Hens, as head coach Jim Sherman and the team will return to the field on February 17 with a three game series at Houston.
