Head Coach Jim Sherman and Delaware Baseball Honors Four Alumni During Weekend Golf Outing and Football Tailgate

The weekend started with 110+ golfers attending the annual Baseball Alumni Golf Outing at Back Creek Golf Course in Middletown, Del. and continued at a tailgate prior to Delaware's Homecoming football game against Rhode Island.
During the tailgate, four members; John Brelus, Bobby DiLullo, Mike Miorelli and 200-hit club member Adam Tsakonas were recognized for their outstanding achievements in a Blue Hen uniform. Each alumnus was given an engraved bat, and a chance to speak before more than 100 people in attendance, including current UD players.
During his years as a Blue Hen, Brelus' (1975-78) teams went 125-60, with three ECC regular-season championships and a tournament championship in 1978 that sent Delaware to the NCAA Tournament . In 38 games (12 starts), that included one complete-game shutout, he owned an 11-5 record with a 3.69 ERA, allowing 166 hits while striking out 88 batters. Since his time at UD, John has worked at General Electric company for 34 years, now as a Global Product General Manager. John has three children; Lindsay, John and Sam.
DiLullo (1978-80) was part of a UD squad that went 105-44, including three consecutive ECC Championships and NCAA appearances. As an outstanding catcher, DiLullo became an integral part of a team that garnered national recognition in the final top 25 polls in 1979 (12th) and 1980 (17th). Since graduating from UD, DiLullo has worked as a Physical Therapist/Vice President of Operations SE-PA and Las Vegas Nevada NovaCare Rehabilitation. He and wife, Cindy have a daughter, Lindsay, a senior at UD and captain of the Synchronized Skating team, and two sons, Christopher, a former UD baseball player from 2006-08, and Daniel, who is a senior at James Madison University. Bobby and Cindy are also proud grandparents to a grandson, Lucas.
Miorelli (1978-81), also an outstanding catcher for the Hens during his career, played for Blue Hens teams that owned a 138-60 overall, including three consecutive ECC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. In 111 games, he hit .290, with 14 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs, 63 RBI and 35 runs scored. After his time at UD, Miorelli has had a career in the newspaper business and is currently the metro editor/sports editor for The Morning Call in Allentown, PA. He previously worked at the Reading (Pa.) Eagle and Hazleton Standard-Speaker. Michael and his wife, Terri have two sons. Matt, who is a financial analyst and currently lives and works in New York City, and Michael, a senior at St. Joseph's University.
Tsakonas (2005-08) was a part of a UD team that went 111-109 during his four years with the Blue Hens , finishing as the CAA Runner-Up for the 2007 season. He is a member of the UD “200-Hit” Club with 223 career hits. Additionally, Tsakonas was selected to the 2008 All-CAA Third-Team his senior season. He was also named the Blue Hens' 2008 Perry E. Burkett Award winner, which is annually awarded to the player who best demonstrates dedication, inspiration and perseverance. A tremendous student, Tsakonas was also a two-time CAA Academic Honor Roll member. Playing in 186 games for UD, Tsakonas finished his career with a .315 batting average, while tallying 51 doubles, 7 triples, 35 home runs, 137 RBI and 156 runs scored. After earning his MBA from Nova Southeastern University, Adam has remained in South Florida, currently living in West Palm Beach and working as a Sports Marketing Consultant at ESPN 760 AM Radio Station.
The current Blue Hen squad will begin its 2013 season on February 15, 2013, when they travel to the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, NC to take on the Temple University Owls at 3:30 p.m.
