Winkler, Congdon Named CAA Divers of the Week (Nov. 14, 2012)

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware men's and women's and diving teams were honored by the Colonial Athletic Association in the conference's weekly honors as Blue Hen freshman diver Luke Winkler was named CAA Men's Diver of the Week and freshman diver Kristina Congdon was selected as the CAA Female Diver of the Week.
The awards were the first career citations for both student-athletes.
Both helped Delaware sweep La Salle and Rider in a tri-meet Saturday in Newark with the Blue Hen women (5-2) defeating La Salle 199-101 and Rider 229-70. The Delaware men (3-3) also swept LaSalle and Rider in the meet.
William & Mary's Andrew Strait was named Men's Swimmer of the Week as William & Mary's Megan Howard and Towson's Kaitlin Burke were named Co-Women Swimmers of the Week.
Winkler, a native of Bethesda, Md. (St. John's College HS), won the 3-meter event with a score of 280.10 while placing fourth in the 1-meter dive after posting a mark of 245.70.
Congdon, a native of Yardley Pa. (Pennsbury HS), registered two first-place finishes in the diving events for the Blue Hen women with a score of 258.85 in the 1-meter event and 273.75 in the 3-meter dive.
The Blue Hen men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 16 through Sunday, Nov. 18 as they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bucknell Invitational.
