Namakonov Becomes First All-American in Men's Swimming & Diving Program History with Performance at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA - University of Delaware men's swimming & diving's Matvei Namakonov became the first All-American in program history and the first student-athlete to make it to an NCAA finals race on Thursday, saving the grittiest performance of his four-year career in Newark for his final day of collegiate swimming.

As the No. 23 seed in the 100-breast Namakonov swam a time of 50.49 in the preliminary round, breaking the program and ASUN record, qualifying him for the finals, moving to the four seed in the nightcap. The top-eight finish in the preliminaries earned him All-America status.

The 50.49 was a personal best by 0.67 seconds, besting the mark he set at the 2025 CAA Championships.

In the finals, Namakonov started strong, tied for third after the first 25 meters at 10.55. The field remained close for the final 75 meters where the senior placed seventh overall at 50.83.
