NEW YORK -- University of Delaware freshman Toresha Foster (at right) won two events and placed second in another, redshirt freshman Latoya James tied her own school record in winning the 60 meter hurdles, and sophomore Lindsay Prettyman set a new school mark in the 800 meters to highlight performances by the Blue Hen women's indoor track and field team at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational Friday at the New York City Armory.
Foster won the 400 meters with a time of 56.88, teamed with Prettyman and freshmen Alex Carroll and Kelley Donovan to win the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:57.91, and placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 3-inches to cap an impressive day.
James tied her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles, running to a blistering time of 8.60 for the second straight week, to capture first place. She also registered an eighth place finish in the long jump (17-8 1/4) and was 25th in the 200 meters (26.99).
Prettyman, who already owns the UD outdoor 800 meters record, added the indoor mark to her list of accolades as she ran to a time of 2:14.35 to finish third in the event. She broke the previous Delaware mark of 2:15.84 set by Erin Gemmill back in 2003.
Delaware posted 29 top 10 finishes on the afternoon, 14 of them by freshmen.
Freshman Katrina Steenkamer was second in the 5,000 meters (17:56.89), freshman Miranda Reinson was second in the pole vault (11-3 3/4), Nijah Dupiche was third in the 400 meters (57.60) and sixth in the 200 meters (25.58), Alana Pantale was third in the shot put (40-10 1/2), Carroll was fourth in the 500 meters (1:17.16), and Jennifer Holly and freshman Haley Gorenflo tied for fourth place in the pole vault (10-10).
