Delaware Baseball Travels to Harrisonburg, Va. and Tackles James Madison in Weekend, CAA Series

The University of Delaware Blue Hens baseball team travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia to play the James Madison University Dukes in a Colonial Athletic Association, weekend series that will run through Sunday at JMU's Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park. The action begins on Friday, March 30, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game also starts at 6:30 p.m. while Sunday's finale of the series will have a 2 p.m. start.
UD enters the weekend series with an 11-14 overall mark and is tied with George Mason in seventh place in the Colonial Athletic Association standings with a 4-5 record. JMU is 6-18-1 overall and sits 11th in the conference with a 1-8 record.
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
The Dukes enter the weekend following a 6-4 loss to Virginia Tech in mid-week action and have lost 13 of the last 14 games played. JMU ranks fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association with a .278 (234-for-842) team batting average while have the league-worst team 7.13 ERA (170 ER/214.2 IP).
The Dukes have a quartet of hitters that own a .300-plus batting average on the season with Cole McIntruff (.337), Ian Haynes (.314), Casey Gross (.304) and Conner Brown (.301). McIntruff is the only Dukes hitter that has a .400-plus on-base percentage (.400) and slugging percentage (.410). Bradley Shaban paces the team with 20 RBI while Brown has a team-high 22 runs scored. Gross is the only Duke to crack the CAA top five with 11 stolen bases.
Sean Tierney and Trent Cundiff own two wins apiece that lead the Dukes pitching staff this season. Patrick Toohers owns a team-low 3.51 ERA (10 ER/25.2 IP) while Michael Howerton has registered JMU's only save.
SERIES HISTORY
Delaware and JMU began their all-time series in 1978 and Blue Hens trail the Dukes, 16-20 in the 36 games played. In 2011, UD won the season series, 2-1, over JMU for their first series win against the Dukes since 2007.
