University of Delaware Men's Tennis Opens 2012-13 Season at Navy, Wins Four Matches vs. Navy

Delaware captured two victories in singles and two in doubles play with juniors Adam Lawton and Adam Gelman each having a hand in two victories.
Lawton (at right), a native of Spain who led the team with a singles record of 17-9 a year ago, posted a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) win over Navy's Austin Jones at the No. 2 singles spot and then teamed with junior Troy Beneck for a 9-8 (10-8) marathon win over Navy's Calvin Mark and Peter McDonald. Beneck and Lawton teamed for an overall record of 17-8 a year ago to lead the Blue Hens.
Gelman registered a 6-2, 6-1 win over Peter McDonald at the No. 3 spot and then teamed with junior Jason Derene for an 8-2 triumph over Alex Gaines and Jones at the No. 2 position.
The Blue Hens will continue action at the Navy Tournament by taking on Temple Saturday at 2 p.m. and St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 9 a.m.
