Blue Hens Men's Tennis 1-0 to Open USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Troy Beneck (Wilmington, Del.) saw the only action of the day Friday for the University of Delaware men's tennis team as the Blue Hens opened the 2013 USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Virginia Tech.
In singles play, Beneck defeated Aaron Capitel from George Mason, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-1 in the first round.
With the win, Beneck advances to face off against Temple's Kristian Marquart, who received a first round bye Friday.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
§ Following a first round bye, Adam Lawton will face Alex Tropiano (Georgetown) Saturday in the singles main draw bracket.
§ Troy Beneck and Adam Lawton also received a first round bye in the doubles main draw and will take on LU's Dillon Segur/Egon Samaai Saturday.
§ Troy Beneck is 11-3 in singles action this season and 63-32 in his four seasons at Delaware. This career mark is good for third in UD history. Chris Hincker (2007-11) is second with a career record of 69-33.
