Juniors Troy Beneck and Adam Lawton remain a constant in the Blue Hen lineup in both singles and doubles action.
Beneck improved to 12-7 overall this season with his 6-1, 7-5 victory over Thomas O'Brien while Lawton moved to 14-5 on the year and 6-1 in the No. 2 flight with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 comeback win against Chris Seitz.
The duo added a close 9-7 win over the doubles team of O'Brien and Kelly Donaldson.
Junior Nolan Gelman (at top right) also improved his season record with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Mark Miller to move to 10-3 in singles action for Delaware.
“The leadership of Troy, Adam and Nolan in singles play is setting a great tone,” Delaware head coach Laura Travis remarked. “Everyone else is chipping away at their action plans and whether they choose to see it or not, video will demonstrate they are improving. We have to keep our focus on our plan and when we do, things will fall into place.”
Gelman paired up with sophomore Evan Andrews to pick up an 8-3 win against Tim Abbracciamento/Michael Rosengren to seal the doubles team point for the Blue Hens, who moved to 2-2 on the season.
With the loss, Villanova falls to 0-3 for the year.
Delaware returns to action March 3 with a noon match at Navy.
