Delaware?s Kuhl, Yezzo and Soren Named Top Prospects in the Colonial Athletic Association by Baseball America

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware baseball team was honored by Baseball America as starting pitcher Chad Kuhl, first baseman/designated hitter Jimmy Yezzo and pitcher Matt Soren were selected as Top Prospects in the Colonial Athletic Association for the 2013 season.
Kuhl, a pre-season CAA honorable mention, was named the No. 1 prospect in the CAA while Yezzo, the 2012 pre-season CAA Co-Player of the Year selection, was ranked fourth and Soren was named ninth by the publication.
“All three guys are very talented ballplayers,” Delaware head coach Jim Sherman said. “Kuhl and Yezzo had award-winning sophomore seasons and look to take that next step during their junior years while Soren will look to shine during his senior season.”
Rounding out the top ten were No. 2 Bryan Verbistsky (Hofstra), No. 3 right-handed pitcher Blaze Tart (UNCW), No. 5 right-handed pitcher John Farrell (William & Mary), No. 6 third baseman/outfielder Ty McFarland (James Madison), No. 7 outfielder Cole McIntruff, No. 8 Tyler Molinaro (UNCW) and No. 10 right-handed pitcher Anthony Montefusco (George Mason).
Additionally the Blue Hens were predicted to place second in the conference behind 2012 CAA champion UNCW. Baseball America has Towson, William & Mary, James Madison, Old Dominion, George Mason, Georgia State and Northeastern rounding out the conference predictions for the upcoming season.
Hoftra's Verbitsky was named Player of the Year while UNCW's Mat Batts was named Pitcher of the Year.
The Blue Hens will kick off the 2013 season with a four-game, three-day trip to Cary, N.C. as the University of Delaware will play Temple, Canisius, La Salle and Albany beginning Friday, February 15 in the Wright State Tournament.
UD will begin its home schedule on Friday, March 1 at 3:30 p.m., as the Blue Hens host Monmouth University in a three-game weekend series at Bob Hannah Stadium.
