UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University of Delaware field hockey team was shutout for the first time this season as the #12 Penn State Nittany Lions (4-3) defeated the #16 Blue Hens, 5-0, at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.

Delaware (5-2), which had previously won four straight games, gave up a season-high five goals, including two from Taylor Herold.

Freshman Esmée Peet (Zeewolde, The Netherlands) collected the Hens' lone shot of the day off of a penalty corner in the seventh minute.

HEN SCRATCHINGS
·      Delaware snapped a four-game winning streak, the longest streak since 2009.
·      Prior to tonight's game, the Hens gave up seven total goals in six games. No team had previously scored more than two in a single game against Delaware.
·      Delaware averaged 3.2 goals per game prior to tonight.
·      Penn State has now won five straight games over the Hens and holds a 15-5-2 all-time advantage over Delaware.
·      Sophomore Michaela Patzner (Rosenheim, Germany) snapped a point-scoring streak as she previously posted at least one point in Delaware's last eight games, dating to last season.
·      For just the second time this season, Patzner did not score a goal.
·      Senior goalie Sarah Scher (Pocomoke City, Md.) collected 11 saves while allowing five goals against Penn State in all 70 minutes of play. She recorded her 12^th consecutive start for the Hens (dating to last year).
·      The #16 Blue Hens received their first appearance in the NFHCA National Coaches Poll this past week for the first time since 2009 when they ranked as high as 11^th.
