FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving team had mixed results in its respective meets Saturday at George Mason. The women's team stays undefeated as UD defeated the Patriots 151-149, while the men's team fell to GMU 166-129.
"The men's meet had several close races," said University of Delaware head coach John Hayman. "In the end we did not prevail. Alex Hillsley and Everett Albert brought home victories for UD with some great swims.”
Hillsley led the men's squad (1-1) with three first place finishes Saturday. The sophomore was first to touch in the 100 Back, 200 Back, and was a part of the victorious 200 Free Relay. Albert added wins in the 200 Free and, like Hillsley, was a member of the winning 200 Free Relay. Patrick McCann swept both diving competitions, as the junior won both the three-meter and one-meter diving events.
Both Blue Hen teams will return to action next week at the CAA Pod Meet at UNCW. The men will face William and Mary, while the women will take on the Tribe and James Madison.
