Delaware Swimming and Diving Teams Notch Pair of Seventh Place Finishes at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After three days of competition, the University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving team each finished in seventh place at the Bucknell Invitational. The women's team accrued a point total of 683, while the men's squad tallied 519 points.
The UD women's team's performance Sunday was highlighted by a first place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Brittany Lazear, Dominique Montoya, Alyssa Sanders, and Morgan Whyte touched first with a time of 3:24.90.
Blue Hen divers Kristina Congdon and Caitlin Stockwell recorded solid results for Delaware in the final day of competition. Congdon finished in third in the 3 – meter diving competition with a score of 286.40, while Stockwell finished just ahead of Congdon as the junior registered a second place finish with a score of 286.45.
The top finish on the men's side was in the 400 freestyle relay race. The Blue Hen team comprised of Alex Hillsley, Tomás Elder, Everett Albert, and Nicholas Badsky finished in eighth place with a time of 3:08.58.
Badsky finished in 10th place in the 100 freestyle, while Tim Ware posted the best individual result with a ninth place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.38.
In total, the men's and women's teams compiled four winning performances and registered eight top-three finishes during the three-day competition.
Bucknell won the women's meet with a score of 1,631, while Yale was victorious in the men's competition with a score of 1,762.
The next event the UD swimmers will take part in is the USS Short Course Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. The three-day event will begin Dec. 4.
