Delaware Hosts Meet with La Salle and Rider Saturday

The men (1-3, 0-2 CAA) swept the dual meet with La Salle and Rider last season as the Blue Hens defeated the Explorers 172-127 and downed the Broncs 170-128. The Delaware women (4-2, 2-1 CAA) also earned two wins in last season's dual meet as UD beat La Salle 199-98 and Rider 327-60.
John HaymanAlthough the men and women only combined for one team win in last weekend's CAA Pod Meet at UNCW, many Blue Hen swimmers recorded season-best times.
Winning efforts from Hailey Farrell and Brittany Lazear highlighted the women's performance at last weekend's CAA Pod Meet as the UD women defeated UNCW 210-143, but fell to both James Madison (219-143) and William & Mary (213-128).
Farrell put forth a time of 4:32.71 in the 400 IM, which was good for the win and for her best time in the event this season. Lazear also had top time for 2014-15 as the senior recorded a time of 5:02.27 in her winning effort in the 500 freestyle.
Alyssa Sanders tallied a top performance in the 100 backstroke event as her time of 57.94 was good for a second place finish. Annie Nunes posted top season times in both the 200 IM (2:10.46) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.05) events. Both of those performances earned her third place finishes. With a 1:54.08 finish, Dominique Montoya tallied her best time of the season in the 200 freestyle.
Delaware's men's squad dropped dual meets to UNCW (209-144) and William & Mary (213-128) at the CAA Pod Meet.
Cory Camp led the Blue Hen men with two wins on the day while Everett Albert added a third victory for UD in the 200 freestyle (1:42.29). Camp, the 2014 CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year, was victorious in the 500 freestyle (4:40.02) and 1,650 freestyle where he posted a time of 16:15.86.
Tim Ware finished in third place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.66, which was his best time of the season in that event. Alex Hillsley gave his best performance to date in the 200 backstroke as the sophomore registered a time of 1:52.61. Nicholas Badsky had a season-best time of 47.10 in the 100 freestyle event.
For the men's team, Saturday will be the 25th meet with Explorers. La Salle leads the all-time series 13-11, but UD has won the last seven meets. The first meet between Delaware and La Salle was in 1943.
Saturday's meet will be the 51st meeting for the men's squad against Rider. The first meeting between the two programs took place in 1933 and UD leads the all-time series 34-16 and have won the last five meetings.
The women's team will be facing La Salle for the 16th time in program history Saturday. The first meeting between the Blue Hens and Explorers was in 1979. Delaware leads the all-time series 11-4 and have won the last nine meetings.
Saturday will be the 25th meeting between the UD women's swimming team and Rider. The first meeting between the two programs came in 1988 and the Blue Hens lead the all-time series 22-2 with their only meet loses coming in 1992 and 2000.
The dual meet between Delaware and Rider and La Salle is set to begin Saturday at 12 p.m. at the University of Delaware's Rawstrom Natatorium.
