Congdon and Camp Receive CAA Accolades

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving team received two awards Tuesday as Kristina Congdon was named the Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Week and Cory Camp was selected the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Swimmer of the Week.
John HaymanCamp (Olney, Md./James Hubert Blake) led the Blue Hen men with two victories in Saturday's meet against Drexel. The sophomore notched a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:39.74. Camp also recorded a victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:31.69, which was the fastest time in CAA this season.
“It is an honor to be able to swim in such a competitive conference and to be named swimmer of the week in the CAA is a great feeling,” said Camp. “I am looking forward to our upcoming meets as well as the conference championship next month. “
Congdon (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) registered a season-best time for the Blue Hens in the 3 – meter diving competition as the junior finished with a score of 300.85. Congdon also finished in second in the 1 – meter diving competition.
“I have put a lot of effort into improving my diving and getting awards like this is very gratifying,” said Congdon. “This shows that all of my hard work is paying off.”
In addition to Camp and Congdon, Rachel Bernhardt of Drexel won the CAA Swimmer of the Week and fellow Dragon David Sanchez was awarded CAA Diver of the Week.
Both Delaware teams will return to action Saturday as the Blue Hens host their final home meet of the season when they take on CAA foe Towson at 1:00 p.m. at Rawstrom Natatorium.
