Blue Hens Travel to Penn for Final Regular Season Meet of Season

The Delaware men (4-6, 0-4 CAA) and women (10-3, 4-3 CAA) were 2-1 last weekend as both teama fell to Colonial Athletic Association rival Towson Saturday before bouncing back to defeat St. Peter's and Iona on Sunday.
Divers Kristina Congdon and Patrick McCann each turned in strong performances in last weekend's meets. Congdon (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) registered the two best scores of the season for UD in the 3 – meter diving competition as the junior tallied a score of 311.92 against Towson and backed it up with a mark of 321.08 in the Iona/St. Peter's meet Sunday.
McCann (Annandale, Va/Annandale) tallied three victories last weekend. In Saturday's meet against Towson, the junior was victorious in the 1 – meter diving event with a score of 283.80, while on Sunday, the junior swept the diving events in a tri-meet with St. Peter's and Iona. McCann won the 1 – meter event with a score of 312.00, which is the highest score for Delaware in the event this season. He then backed that performance up by winning the 3 – meter event with a score of 273.45. McCann's efforts earned him CAA Diver of the Week honors.
In addition to the divers, Laura Askin (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) also put forth a strong performance last weekend as the senior swam the team's fastest 200 butterfly of the season with a time of 2:06.35 against Towson.
Penn's men's squad come into Saturday's meet with a 3-5 record, while the women's team boasts a 4-4 mark on the year. Both Quaker swimming and diving teams were able to beat Brown, but fell to Harvard in their previous meet.
One of the bright spots in Penn's last meet was freshman Alex Peterson who tallied three second place finishes against the Bears and Crimson. Peterson's performance earned her ECAC South Division Rookie of the Week accolades.
Ellie Grimes and Rochelle Dong led Penn's women's team with two wins last weekend, while Chris Swanson and Eric Schultz combined to tally three wins for the men's squad.
Saturday's meet between the Quakers and Blue Hens will begin at 12 p.m. at the University of Pennsylvania's Sheerr Pool.
Hen Scratchings
· Tim Ware led the Blue Hen men with two wins in last weekend's meet against Towson, while Morgan Whyte led the UD women's swimmers with two victories against the Tigers.
· The Delaware men accounted for 12 wins in the St. Peter's/Iona meet, while the UD women recorded 11 race victories against the Peacocks and Gaels.
· Saturday will be the final home meet for the Quakers this season.
· Neither Penn team has lost a home meet this season.
· Delaware will be just the second nonconference opponent for both Penn teams this season. The Quakers men's and women's teams were both able to defeat Connecticut earlier this season.
· After Saturday's meet, the Blue Hens will not compete until the CAA Diving Championships on Feb. 21.
· The University of Delaware will host the CAA Diving Championships at Rawstrom Natatorium Feb. 21 and Feb. 22.
