BLACKSBURG, Va. – Delaware men's tennis opened ITA Atlantic Regional play Friday with senior Mike Furr (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) competing in singles action while sophomore Shane Jeffray (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) and junior Tyler Flematti (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) paired in the doubles bracket.
Held at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center, Jeffray and Flematti received a first round bye before falling, 8-4, to Temple's Santiago Canete and Filip Stipic.
In singles play, Furr came from behind to defeat Virginia Tech's Rafael Ribas, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. With the win, he advances to play Navy's Austin Jones at 11 a.m. Saturday.
