Delaware Swimming & Diving Opens 2015-16 Campaigns Saturday at Home
10/2/2015 11:42:00 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
John Hayman, who will enter his 28th season at the helm of the Blue Hens this winter, welcomes back a pair of squads with a nice mixes of veterans and talented newcomers.
The Delaware women welcome 18 members back to a team that posted an impressive dual meet record of 10-4 and placed fourth at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships while the Blue Hen men return 17 vets from a squad that went 4-7 in duals and was fifth at the CAA meet.
Veteran swimmers to watch for Delaware are defending CAA men's 500 freestyle champion and 2014 CAA Rookie of the Year Cory Camp and defending women's CAA 50 and 100 freestyle champion Morgan Whyte.
“We are excited as always to open up the 2015-16 season by hosting Georgetown and St. Francis,” said Hayman. “We have a large freshman class and I am hoping for some big swims from Kyle Weston and John Fritsch on the men's side and from Mina Feyrer and Samantha Marino on the women's side just to name a few. This meet will establish the benchmark for all of our swimmers and divers for this upcoming season so we want to come out fast.”
Delaware will host seven events at Rawstrom this season, including the CAA Pod Meet Oct. 31-Nov. 1 and the CAA Diving Championships in mid-February. The CAA Swimming Championships are set for Feb. 24-27 in Richmond, Va.
