Blue Hens Fall to UNCW, 4-0, in CAA Women's Soccer Quarterfinals

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer season came to an end Sunday afternoon as Maddie McCormick scored a pair of goals to lead UNCW to a 4-0 victory over the Blue Hens in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Quarterfinals at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
Katrina Guillou and Lindsey Byrne also found the back of the net for the No. 3 seed Seahawks (14-5-1), who broke away from a 1-0 halftime lead by scoring three times in the second half. UNCW advances to face No. 2 William & Mary in the CAA Semifinals on Friday at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
No. 4 James Madison, which defeated No. 5 Northeastern 1-0 on Sunday, will take on top-seed Hofstra in the other semifinal game. The championship game is Sunday with that winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
Delaware (8-9-2), which earned the No. 6 seed into the tournament thanks to a clutch 1-0 win over
Northeastern last Sunday, managed just shots and two corner kicks on the day vs. UNCW.
Michelle McEnroe and Emily Market each had a shot on goal for the Blue Hens on Sunday while goalkeeper Kailyn Rekos recorded five saves on the day.
UNCW, which entered the game as the top scoring outfit in the CAA at 2.32 goals per game, is ranked No. 4 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region. The Seahawks extended their winning streak to four straight games and have outscored those opponents by a 19-0 margin.

• Delaware was making its third CAA Tournament appearance in the last four years and its seventh time overall
• The Blue Hens posted eight wins for the fifth time in the last six seasons
• Delaware is ranked No. 67 in the national RPI rankings out of 333 schools. UNCW is ranked 39th
• Delaware junior Natalie Zelenky was held scoreless but finished the season with a team-high 11 goals
