Delaware Swimmers Capture Team Titles, Set More Records at Franklin & Marshall Invite

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming teams set five more meet records, another pool record, and captured 10 first place performances to finish strong during the final day of the Franklin & Marshall Winter Invitational Sunday evening at McGinness Pool.
Both squads captured their respective team titles as the Delaware men collected 1,790 points to best 11 other teams while the UD women had 1,757 points to best eight other competitors.
Each Blue Hen team had a double individual winner on the day as Annie Nunes won both the 200 individual medley (2:0754) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.07) on the women's side and Alexander Hillsley took home first place showings in the 200 individual medley (meet record time of 1:53.19) and 200 backstroke (1:51.98) in the men's competition. Hillsley also joined Tomas Elder, Garrett Sharesky, and Nicholas Badsky to win the 400 freestyle in a meet record time of 3:03.47.
Also for the UD women, Alyssa Sanders won the 200 backstroke with a meet record time of 2:03.60, Morgan Whyte won the 100 freestyle in 51.03, Mina Feyrer touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly (2:07.19), and Dominique Montoya, Sanders, Sarah Braatz, and Whyte combined for a meet and pool record time of 3:25.69 in the 400 freestyle relay. Braatz was also third in the 500 freestyle (5:06.31).
For the Blue Hen men, Alex Tooley won the team's fourth title with a time of 4:39.75 in the 500 freestyle and was also fourth in the 200 IM (1:56.46). Patrick Savidge (1:55.10 in the 200 individual medley), Corey Camp (4:39.78 in the 500 freestyle), and Thomas Scott (1:55.10 in the 200 butterfly) also posted runner-up finishes. Savidge also won individual events each of the last two days.
Both Delaware teams will continue action Dec. 3-5 when several individuals compete at the USS Winter Nationals in Seattle, Wash.
