Delaware Closes Out Action at US Swimming AT&T Winter Nationals

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- University of Delaware seniors Alex Tooley and Morgan Whyte and junior Cory Camp competed Saturday during the final day of the 2015 US Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The meet is one of the fastest in the world each year with the top collegiate and post-collegiate swimmers, numerous Olympic hopefuls, and world record-holders competing in the three-day event.
Tooley (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) was the Blue Hens' top finisher on the day as he placed 41st overall in the 1,500 freestyle with a time of 16:39.21, just one spot ahead of teammate Camp (Olney, Md./James Hubert Blake HS), who swam to a time of 16:48.52 to finish 42nd overall.
Tooley placed fifth in his heat while Camp was sixth in his heat. The overall winner was Michael McBroom, who swam to a winning time of 15:10.31. McBroom, a member of the University of Texas swimming team, is the national record-holder in the 800 freestyle.
Whyte closed out acton for the Blue Hens at the meet as she placed fifth in her heat and 70th overall out of 87 swimmers with a time of 58.00 in the 100 freestyle. Stanford standout Simone Manuel won the race with a time of 53.98.
Delaware will return to action Saturday, Jan. 9 when the Blue Hens host Colonial Athletic Association foes Drexel and Northeastern at 12 noon at Rawstrom Pool.
