Blue Hens Head to Richmond for CAA Swimming Championship
2/24/2015 4:03:00 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
The Blue Hen swimmers have not competed in a month and all of their recent training has been focused on peaking for this week's championship.

In the CAA's a season ago, Delaware set 21 new school records and a similar performance is expected this year. In the 2014 CAA Championship, the Blue Hen men finished fourth overall in the team stanadings while the women's team tallied a fifth place finish.
While both UD teams are trying to win their first CAA Championship, two dynasties will look to continue their reign of dominance this year as the UNCW men's squad is searching for its 14th-straight CAA championship, while the Towson women will attempt to capture the CAA title for the seventh time in eight years.
For the Blue Hens, Cory Camp has the fastest time in four events for the UD men's team, while Alyssa Sanders and Annie Nunes (left) have recorded the fastest time in three events each for the Delaware women.
UD senior Tim Ware (bottom right) is one of the fastest swimmers in the CAA and is expected to be among the top finishers in the backstroke events. Ware set a new school record in December when he swam the 100 backstroke in 48.10 in the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships.
“One of our goals is to qualify all of our athletes for finals at night,” said Hayman. “We also should
be establishing several new school records and can hopefully attain some very strong NCAA qualifying times. We lack some depth in a few events, so we will have to perform well in other events to make up for this gap. Overall, the swimmers look great and everyone is excited to swim fast.”
Video for the event will be carried live for free in high definition on CAA.TV and CAA's iPad app. A free login will be required to view the games via CAA.TV on a computer or using the CAA's iPad app. Live results will also be available at www.caasports.com.
All-session tickets are available for $70 with single session prices set at $10 for preliminaries and $12 for finals. Discounts are available for students.
The four-day meet will begin Wednesday with the men's and women's 200 medley relay.
