BUFFALO, N.Y. – Kristina Congdon finished in 22nd place and Caitlin Stockwell tallied a 33rdplace finish in the 1-meter diving competition on day two of the NCAA Zone A Diving Meet at the University of Buffalo Tuesday.
Congdon narrowly missed qualifying for the finals for the second straight day as the junior finished with a point total of 241.05.
Brian PayneStockwell recorded a point total of 22.50 and had an average score per round of 37.08. The junior's 33rd place finish was an improvement on her 50th place finish last year.
“Both performances in the 1-meter were much improved over last year, but they still fell short of qualifying for finals,” said Payne. “Caitlin dove well, but faced off against a strong corps of freshmen divers who have specialized on 1-meter in high school for the past three or four years.”
Kaylea Arnett of Virginia Tech won the 1-meter competition with a final total score of 590.75. Caitlin Chambers of Princeton finished in second, while UConn's Taryn Urbanus came in third.
The competition closed out the 2014-15 season for the Blue Hen men's and women's swimming and diving squads.
