Coleman, Idris Lead Delaware at Raleigh Track & Field Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Junior Latazah Coleman (Appoquinimink/Middletown, Del.) raced to a second place finish in the 200 meters and senior Amira Idris (Hylton/Woodbridge, Va.) posted a fourth place finish for the second straight day with an outstanding performance in the triple jump to lead the University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field team at the final day of the Raleigh Relays Saturday at North Carolina State's Derr Track Facility.
Coleman, a first-year transfer from Rider who placed 13th in the 100 meters on Friday, enjoyed Delaware's top finish of the meet as she placed second in the 200 meters with a clocking of 25.26. She later joined in as Delaware placed 13th in the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 48.19.
Idris continued her outstanding spring as she placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-feet, 2-inches, a distance that qualified her for the ECAC Championships at Princeton in May. On Friday, Idris finished fourth in the long jump with another ECAC qualifying distance. Idris earned All-East honors in both events during the indoor season.
Also for Delaware on Saturday, the 4 x 800 meter relay team of freshman Liz McGroarty, sophomore Betsy Erlanger, junior Shanel Dickens, and freshman Angela Spaddacini placed ninth with a time of 9:21.24, the 4 x 100 meter relay team of sophomore Tyler Jackson, Coleman, junior Chelsi Campbell, and senior Toresha Foster was 13th in 48.19, senior Breanna Nicholson was 17th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.62), and the 4 x 400 meter relay team finished 20th with a clocking of 4:01.47.
