Delaware Unable to Complete Comeback Against Hofstra

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team nearly notched its first win of the year, but Hofstra pulled out the 4-3 win over the Blue Hens Saturday afternoon at the Delaware Field House Outdoor Courts.
The Pride (9-5, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) captured the team doubles point by winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, junior Tim Puterio (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown) marked his third straight victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Leonardo Pires in the fifth flight.
Freshman Shane Jeffray (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) defeated Ari Richman, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, in No. 2 singles while classmate Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) tallied a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Stuart MacLeod in the sixth slot.
With the loss, the Hens fell to 0-14 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
