Seven Blue Hens Honored on CAA Women's Track & Field All-Conference Team

RICHMOND, Va. – Seven University of Delaware athletes were honored as the Colonial Athletic Association announced its 2015 Women's Track & Field All-Conference squad on Thursday.
Senior Amira Idris (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) was selected in both the long jump and triple jump following her outstanding campaign in which she was named the UD Alumni Association Team MVP and the CAA Championships Outstanding Track Athlete. Idris won the triple jump at the conference championships with a mark of 40'6”, and went on to finish 18th in the event at the ECAC Championships. She placed second at the CAA meet in the long jump, while her season-mark jump of 19'6.75” at the ECAC meet earned her a third place finish.
Idris was also a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that was honored on the All-CAA team, along with Latazah Coleman, Tyler Jackson and Paige Thompson-Charles. That quartet placed second at the CAA Championships with a time of 46.47, qualifying for the ECAC meet, and also claimed its race at the Delaware Open.
Coleman (left), a junior from Middletown, Del. (Appoquinimink) was also selected to the all-conference team in the 200 meters. Coleman won the event at the CAA Championships with a time of 24.03, and went on to finish seventh in the event at the ECAC meet to earn All-East honors. Coleman also claimed the 200 meter race at the Delaware Open and Delaware Classic, and finished second at the Raleigh Relays.
Freshman Sarah Hillman a native of Dover, Del. (Polytech) earned All-CAA discus honors after her third place finish at the CAA Championships. She posted a season-best throw of 45'8” at the Delaware Classic, setting a freshman and school record while also qualifying for the ECAC Championships. Named the team's Most Outstanding Freshman, Hillman won the discus event at the Delaware Open and Delaware Classic, and was a three-time winner and ECAC participant in the shot put as well.
Blue Hen sophomore Jade Francis and senior Monica Hagenauer were named to the all-conference team for the hammer throw. Francis (Islandia, N.Y./Connetquot), selected the team's Most Improved Field Performer, finished second in the hammer at the CAA Championships and won the event at the Colonial Relays. Hagenauer (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), who served as a team captain this spring, placed third in the hammer at the conference championships while also winning the event in four other meets.
Additionally, sophomore Ilana Schnaufer (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) was UD's representative on the All-Academic Team. Schnaufer, an environmental science and chemistry major who was a CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee, participated in the 4x1500 meter relay, 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 5000 meters for the Blue Hens.
