Early Goal by McEnroe Lifts Delaware to 1-0 Victory at Princeton

Scott Grzenda. “After we scored the goal we took our foot off the gas and they were on us, but we defended well and continually disrupted their play.”Delaware (4-3), coming off a 6-1 win over Brown on Sunday, won its second straight game and posted its second shutout of the season. Princeton (2-3) dropped its third straight game after opening the season 2-0.
Blue Hen junior goalkeeper Kailyn Rekos (Groton Dunstable/Groton, Mass.) recorded her second shutout of the season as she turned away four shots.
Hen Scratchings
• Delaware and Princeton faced each other for the first time since 2000 when the Tigers posted a 3-0 victory. The teams have now each won two games in the four-game series
• The Hens are now 2-0 vs Ivy League teams this season after going 0-2 vs. the Ancient Eight in 2014
• Delaware will return to action this Sunday, Sept. 13, when the Hens George Washington at 3 p.m. in the second game of a men's/women's doubleheader at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
