Scott Grzenda of the Colonials. “What we wanted to do was contain them so we could counter quickly and I think that showed since we had quite a bit of opportunities on the counterattack. I think the girls are hungry when they go forward.“Natalie has been playing excellent,” said Grzenda. “I think she has the confidence at this point to put the ball in the net. I think the difference between this year and last year is just the sheer confidence and the will to want to score. Last year she found herself a little more of a role player and now I think she's taken that step forward in wanting to be a leader in putting the ball in the back of the net."
Zelenky scored her first goal just 17:19 into the game when she redirected a pass from Andrea Gunderson (Rustin/West Chester, Pa.) from seven yards out for a 1-0 Delaware lead. But the Colonials came right back just five minutes later and tied it when Cooper scored after corralling a rebound off the crossbar.
The Blue Hens put the game away in the second stanza as Zelenky scored off a rebound just 46 seconds into the half to up the lead to 2-1 and then had the assist on the third goal when she passed from the left corner to junior Nikki Adams (above left/Schalick/Pittsgrove, N.J.) who lunged to kick the ball into the net with 23:44 remaining.
