ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team saw plenty of action this past weekend as each singles and doubles team appeared in four matches at the Joe Hunt Invitational, hosted by the US Naval Academy.
Senior Tim Puterio (Kington, R.I./South Kingstown) led the way with three victories and finished third overall in the Singles Flight D.
Alex SweetPuterio paired with classmate Mike Furr (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) for three positive decisions in Flight C Doubles.
Also in Flight C, Sweet teamed up with freshman Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) for two doubles victories.
Wrapping doubles action, freshman Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) and sophomore Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) picked up two wins in Flight B.
“I'm pleased with the results from this weekend. My guys are working hard and it is beginning to show in their results against tough opponents. We performed better than last year and look to continue to improve as the year progresses.”
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Delaware is 22-35 in singles play and 13-15 in doubles action to start the season.
· Venkatesh Ramkumar is 5-3 in doubles play.
· Colin Wong and Tim Puterio have each reached 10 career doubles wins.
