Scott Grzenda. “We had to sit a couple of girls who we're injured but the whole team responded really well. Today we concentrated on moving the ball a little faster, and I think we have been good when we have gotten into the final third, but today we were able to get numbers forward and the girls absolutely finished. It's always a good opportunity when you can have everybody play. We saw some things in some of the kids that haven't had much time and now we know some kids that we can put in when the others get a little tired. It was a great group effort."Delaware also owned a commanding 21-9 advantage on shots and a 6-1 margin on corner kicks over Brown (1-1). The Blue Hens took 14 shots in the second half and the 21 shots was a season-high.
Curtin scored her second goal of the season just 18:50 into the game and then assisted Zelenky on a score seven minutes later to stake the Hens to a 2-0 lead. Brown answered on a goal by Carly Gould seven minutes after that, but the Hens got it back when Trinidad scored with only 4:15 left in the opening stanza for a 3-1 lead at the break.
"It was awesome running out through the tunnel, it was the most energizing thing ever,” said Curtin of her first career start. “It's just nice that after working hard all through preseason it's actually paying off now. We stayed really wide today, which opens up the ball for everyone, giving our forwards and center midfielders more space. That makes us attack better and we were able to tire out their defense.”
